World NGO DayMarcis Skadmanis, LL.M., FRSA, is a Latvian-British international lawyer by training with 15+ years of experience in strategic development, partnerships, and cross-border collaboration. As the Founder of World NGO Day, he serves as Chair and Head of Strategic Development & Partnerships of the World NGO Day Global Council.
He is the concept creator and Founder of World NGO Day (27 February) — an international observance first celebrated in 2014 and now marked in more than 145 countries across six continents. The day has been officially recognized and engaged by leading international institutions, including the European Union, UNESCO, the United Nations Development Programme, and the Council of Europe, honoring more than 10 million NGOs and 1 billion volunteers worldwide.
His previous roles include International Consultant to the Taichung City Government INGO Center (Taiwan), where he was invited by the Taichung City Council to sign the Taichung City Council in 2018; Executive Director, Board Member, and Head of Development & Partnerships at the Latvian-British Chamber of Commerce (UK), where he advanced cross-border trade and institutional collaboration; Non-Executive Director, Partnerships at SilverNet Financial Systems (UK/Israel); and Director of Strategic Development & Partnerships and Non-Executive Director at MarketerValley (US/Brazil), a generative AI SaaS company, until its acquisition.
He holds an LL.M. and an Honorary Degree (Honoris Causa) from Turiba University, as well as a Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship from the University of Oxford.
